Concept

The Y Jewels collection concept involves artfully set stones in white or yellow 18kt gold. As a jewelry designer, Yvonne’s mission is to make her pieces accessible and highly wearable. To this end, she developed a method of interchanging “drop” gemstones that dangle from a “top” setting. She designed four top styles with discrete hooks onto which drop stones can be easily attached without the need for tools. With only one pair of top earrings, the look can be dramatically changed by choosing from a wide array of drops.

More than 300 custom, hand-crafted pieces.

Collection

Unlike other interchangeable jewelry lines, Yvonne goes to great lengths to hide the hook attachment, making each combination look like a single piece of jewelry. Women who want options for wear-ability love the classic, elegant look of the Y Jewels collection. They also appreciate how Yvonne’s pieces make wonderful gifts, and the opportunity to build one’s own versatile, customized collection. Yvonne’s niche concept of jewelry design was perfectly summed up by one of her collectors, who said the Y Jewels collection is “where art meets practicality.” Please note that the pieces presented here are just a small sampling of the entire collection with many more styles and combinations available.

About The Designer

Every stone tells a story and Yvonne thinks that’s a beautiful thing. Her passion? To extract an unseemly chip of rock from deep within its crystalline vault, cut it, polish it, set it, and allow its beauty to speak volumes about the Earth’s ancient history. Her mission? To find the most uniquely beautiful stones she possibly can and fashion them into wearable art. Her selection of jewelry pieces is absolutely mesmerizing.

After earning her graduate degree in gemology from the Gemological Institute of America (GIA) in New York, Yvonne broadened her knowledge of jewelry with an internship at Sotheby’s. Born with an eye for shape, color and texture, it was the fortuitous combination of her formal gemological studies, her early education in fashion merchandising, and later, a chance meeting with a Brazilian mine owner and master gem cutter that led to a career in jewelry design. Yvonne is a member of the GIA Alumni Association, The South Carolina Jeweler’s Association and other mineralogical societies.
